EXPO PAVILIONS – SCENOGRAPHIC LABORATORIES FOR STAGING CONTENT

Expo pavilions have always been somewhat special.
They are a possibility of pure creative ability. A synthesis of the arts that does not have to adhere to norms and rules and can therefore represent the very potential of humanity, from a technical and creative point of view, in a holistic way.

In over 30 years of scenographic work, some impressive and virtually revolutionary pavilions have been created and conceptualized that set new standards in terms of technical integration and staging of content.

The future master plans for world exhibitions and their national and thematic pavilions must no longer have the character of a mere representation and promotion of the power of national economy and culture. They must change to convey and offer solutions to global problems and challenges such as climate change, environmental pollution or social conflicts in order to achieve the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

In addition, the after-use of Expo sites and pavilions must ensure sustainable environmental, infrastructural and social added value for local and international communities.

If exhibitions are to retain their pioneering character, they must behave as avant-garde role models in terms of innovation, progress and justice for the society of the future. – Prof. Uwe R. Brückner, 08. July 2022

For my daughters, Saïda, Hannah, Alva for my Scholars, Friends, Colleagues and all Scenography Enthusiasts.

None of the partially high complex projects and only few concepts would have had the chance to be accomplished, without a team of competent, professional and enthusiastic colleagues.

Thanks to the engagement of scenographers, architects, engineers, light-, sound-, media designers and artists a great number of unique pavilions, exhibitions and installations could be realized. Because of the many open-minded and risk-taking clients, authorities and institutions we were able to successfully stage a large number of amazing projects all over the world. Not to forget the companies and specialists, who were supporting us with their skills to make the impossible possible. And last but not least I want to thank the partners, wives, husbands and children and friends who patiently withstood the periods of stress and droughts of relationship. I am very grateful for all the passion and loyalty which was shared with me and the works over 25 years, working on high level scenography.

This WEB-Page is a preview of a scenographic library in progress, meant to be a record of more than 500 projects and concepts, 200 lectures and 120 publications featuring 30 years of scenographic design and academic teaching – it is also meant to be a contribution to the next generation of designers to come.
